March 12, 2019
On this episode of Digital Dialogue, we explored the various ways that you can organically grow your engagement through Instagram stories! First, we shared two social media stories about Facebook and Instagram dealing with various things. Here are the two stories:
Facebook Launches Legal Action Against Companies Selling Fake Followers and Likes
According to a statement released by Facebook, they filed a lawsuit in US Federal Court against four companies and three people based in the Peoples Republic of China for promoting the sale of fake accounts, likes and followers. This has obviously become a serious problem, as these bot farms are able to imitate actual engagement on social media platforms, but in reality it is all fake. As influencer marketing continues to grow exponentially, the need for monitoring engagement/followers is crucial.
Elizabeth Warren casts plan to break apart Google, Facebook and Amazon
Elizabeth Warren has an ambitious plan that entails not only passing legislation to slow down these fortune 500 companies but to dissolve of them entirely. As she stated, she plans to first “pass legislation that prohibits companies from offering a marketplace while also participating in that marketplace — forcing giants like Amazon and Google to sell of large parts of their business.”
Secondly she would appoint regulators who would ensure that “illegal and competitive tech mergers” are no longer legal. In retaliation, according to TechCrunch, Facebook has removed all of her campaign ads across Facebook and Instagram.
