In today’s post we are highlighting Yelling Mule employee, Lindsey. Recently promoted to Senior Designer, Lindsey has played a key role in many projects over the three years she has been with the agency. We’re excited for her to share a bit about herself and what makes her passionate about design.

How did you get your start in graphic design?

My entry into graphic design started all the way back in high school. I remember taking an advertising art class, and I fell in love and immediately knew that this is what I want to do. Besides that, I come from a very artistic family. I have always been a creative person, but in terms of my family –  my dad is an incredible artist and photographer, and my sister is an interior designer and, like me, has always been artistic since she was young.

What is your favorite aspect of working for Yelling Mule?

I think my favorite aspect of working here is the drive to never settle. Yelling Mule has such a unique competitive advantage compared to other agencies, and I think a huge reason for that is because the people that we employ are always looking to better ourselves and the company. We are constantly reworking our sales tools and our process because there are always so many good ideas coming through that people think of, and seeing that really makes you want to push yourself even more.

What are you looking forward to in this new position?

Something I am really looking forward to is incorporating more user experience (UX) into our process. A lot of times with web design agencies, there isn’t a huge focus in a full-fledged UX process. But, with this new position I made a goal for myself to enhance our UX package. So I would love to install new UX practices into our workflow and into our design process. I think this can really set us apart from other agencies in the area and I’m really looking forward to it.

How do you find inspiration?

Nowadays, there are so many outlets for designers to go to for inspiration. Some of the bigger, more popular ones are Dribbble, Behance, and Awwwards. Some other ones that I personally like to go to are Instagram and pttrns.com and mobbin.design.

What are your favorite design platforms, and why?

I like Figma the best because I find it really easy to use. I used to use Sketch, but I really like the web browser version of Figma. Figma just runs better, is easier to use, and things like Figjam allow for so much more collaboration.

To someone starting in graphic design, what would be three tips or recommendations you would give?
