If you want to improve your SEO rankings on Google there is always one thing that we tell our clients — curate a blog about your products or services. That is one of the easiest ways to help see results in climbing the ranks. If you are looking to start a blog, here are some tips we think will help you along the way.

  1. Research Keywords for Your Blog Post

Once you have a blog post idea, you’ll need to do some keyword research around the topic. This will help you to understand how people are searching for the topic in Google. It will also show what phrases commonly associated with your business you should be targeting in paid ads as well.

Use, Google Keyword Planner if you want to see what keywords perform best on Google Search. Keyword research is the first and the most important part of blogging for SEO which you can’t ignore.

  1. Ensure Your Blog Is Mobile Optimized

It’s important to have a very good and fast mobile version of your site. According to this research, 80% of users used a mobile device to search the internet in 2019, furthermore 40% of online transactions are done using a mobile device, and US mobile search ad spending was estimated at 28 Billion in 2019.

Google looks at the mobile version of your site when deciding how to rank it in search results, even for searches performed on desktop, called “mobile first indexing.” It’s so important to have a responsive design that looks good on any theme, and to test the mobile response speed to see if it’s fast enough.

  1. Optimize Your Blog Post Title and Subheadings

Now that you have your keywords you found that worked, you need to use them in your title and throughout the length of your blog post. One of the first places to start is with your title. You want to ensure that the title of your blog is phrased correctly and has at least 1 or 2 of the specific keywords you are going after. You don’t need to put an abundance of keywords in your content, instead use them naturally. Always remember that you are writing for the reader first, then Google.

The only meta tags you need to worry about are meta title and meta descriptions.  You should use your keywords in both of these. It’s easy to do this if you’re using the Yoast plugin for WordPress.

  1. Create Easy To Identify Blog Post URL’s

This is an important aspect of SEO for blogs especially. You would never want your blog post’s URLs to look like this:

Example : www.yellingmule.com/2020/post318e7a349f6

Instead of having an unspecified ending to your URL you should make your URLs user friendly, so they look more like this:

Example : www.yellingmule.com/2020/blogging-for-seo-purposes

Now with this information you can begin researching keywords and start writing your first blog.
