Writing can be tough. Truly.

Even the best writers hesitate with their writing. Hell, most of the best writers not only struggle with the frustration of writers block but also with constantly writing and rewriting their own work. But the truth is, when it comes to blogging or social media content writing – you need to pay attention to 1) Your voice and 2) Your clarity. It takes practice but you mostly need to ensure that you are writing conversationally. When it comes to these specific avenues of content, you don’t want to get too floral with your wording.

Here are a few of the things we’ve learned to help you improve your writing quickly.

Practice makes perfect

You’ve been hearing this saying since you were a kid, and you’re probably tired of it but it’s absolutely the truth. You need to practice your writing. The more you write, the better you’ll get. That’s a guarantee. We recommend writing whatever comes to mind; just conquer and overcome that first blank page with whatever topic you’d like. After you’re finished, maybe you review it and realize it’s absolute trash. But that’s not the point of the exercise; review it and then rewrite it.

Keep it simple

You don’t want to drench your posts with overcomplicated language. Keep things simple; you’re trying to appeal to people reading captions on Instagram or posts on their mobile phones – they don’t need a lecture.

Also, try writing actively rather than passively. Click here for a quickie reminder of what that means.

Write like you speak

This is so important. You don’t want to attempt to be fancy with your words. When it comes to social media and blogging, you want to write like you speak. Think of it like a conversation. If you want to write a quick post on “Your Guide to Social Media” – then write it out in the same way you would explain it to someone in person.
