Local Instagram Influencers

On this episode of Digital Dialogue, Katelyn and Scott will be discussing the topic of influencer marketing! The extremely popular and trendy way that companies are sharing their brands and products using alternative marketing strategies.

Throughout the episode we talk about elite influencers such as Kim K, she makes a reported 1 million dollars per sponsored Instagram post according to Allure magazine. We also talk about the importance of micro-influencers and how they can be beneficial in niche markets.

Before we get into that, we dive into our #SocialMediaMinute.

1. Instagram Rolls Out Updated Explore Format, Including Stories Content

According to Social Media Today, Instagram is coming out with some new edits to their Explore tab. Currently, the explorer tab shares trends through it’s search feature which lists categories that you can explore. Instagram says the new format will put more focus on this.

“When you go to Explore, you’ll now see a newly designed navigation bar, which features shortcuts to IGTV and Shopping followed by topic channels tailored to your interests, such as Food, Art and Travel. “IGTV” and “Shop” shortcuts are pinned to the front of the bar, making it easier to find products and videos from brands and creators you love.”

2. Instagram Looks Set to Ramp Up its Efforts Against Apps Selling Likes and Followers

According to Social Media Today, Instagram is making sure to crack down on users who’ve purchased likes and followers in order to inflate their standing.

This is an important step because people can now potentially profit significantly from having a perceived following and if it is fake they are deceiving the brands they are representing.

The rest of the episode we cover the value of influencer marketing, the various ways of measuring influencers reach, ways to determine who you might chose, and lastly successful campaigns including this one from Lagavulin starring Nick Offerman.
