As social media platforms have changed, so has the organic reach of content posted on them. There are a number of variables that have contributed to this decline but don’t worry, there’s hope! In this blog post, we have compiled five simple yet effective ways to help increase your organic reach on social media.

Algorithms

We’ve all heard about the infamous Facebook and Instagram algorithms but do we actually understand them? First and foremost, it’s important to know that these algorithms differ based on the social platform. However, each algorithm is relatively based on these three principles.

  • Recency – How long ago the post was published

  • Relevancy – How relevant the post is to the audience

  • Engagement – How the audience reacts to the posts (likes comments and shares)

By keeping these three concepts in mind and utilizing them when posting, you can hopefully boost your organic reach.

Stories

Utilizing the stories feature on social media platforms is another effective way to increase your organic reach. Every story has the option to include GIF, hashtags, location stickers that help increase your exposure to a relevant audience. Taking advantage of Live stories also a great strategy, especially when you can save and reuse the content later on.

Create Specific Content For Each Platform

What we really mean is don’t cross-post. While cross-posting may seem like a great way to save time, there are a number of reasons why it isn’t successful long term. For example, caption length, image formatting, and vocabulary all differ by platform so content posted may not have the same impact on every platform. It is vital to ALWAYS tailor your content to the specific platform you are posting from.

Analytics

Analytics provide amazing insights in regards to your organic reach. It is so important to track the analytics for your posts so you can see what is resonating with your audience and what isn’t.

Schedule Posting

Creating a schedule for your social media posts can also improve your organic reach. By incorporating the best days and times to post (based on your analytics) for your audience will help ensure your content is being seen by the right people. We also recommend scheduling time to post often and consistently to ensure the best results.
